Dubai: The
Indian Consulate in Dubai celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with a
vibrant gathering of members of the Indian community, families, social workers,
community leaders and well-wishers. As Independence Day fell on a Saturday this
year, the celebrations witnessed a strong turnout, with people coming together
to mark the historic occasion with pride and patriotic spirit.
The celebrations were led by the Consul
General of India in Dubai, H.E. Dr. Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, who
hoisted the Indian National Flag at the Consulate premises. The flag-hoisting
ceremony was followed by the National Anthem, creating a deeply patriotic
atmosphere among the gathering.

Vande Mataram Pays Tribute to India’s Patriotic Heritage
The programme also featured a special
rendition of Vande Mataram, paying tribute to the enduring significance
of one of India’s most cherished patriotic songs. The rendition added a
meaningful cultural dimension to the Independence Day celebrations before the
ceremonial flag-hoisting and National Anthem.
Consul General Highlights Priorities for
the Community
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of
India’s 80th Independence Day, Consul General Dr. Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan
Reddy spoke about his priorities for his tenure, including strengthening
consular and passport-related services, further deepening India-UAE relations,
encouraging cultural exchange and expanding opportunities for trade, commerce
and investment.
Dr. Reddy described his role as an honour
and privilege to serve the Indian community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
He encouraged members of the diaspora to remain connected with India and
contribute towards the country’s continued growth and development.
He also emphasised the Consulate’s
commitment to maintaining close communication with the Indian community,
improving public services and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage and
traditions across the UAE.
Aim India Forum Representatives Attend
Celebrations
The Independence Day celebrations were also
attended by representatives and members of Aim India Forum (AIF).
Founder President Dr. Shaikh Muzaffer was present at the event. Mohammed Ashraf (Shameer), a
social worker and prominent community leader from Kerala, also took part in the
celebrations.
Mohammed Niyaz, Vice President of Aim
India Forum, attended the program and joined the
community in commemorating the historic occasion.
Ikram Mohammed, Youth Vice President and International Joint Secretary of the National
Human Rights, Social Justice Council of India – Global WWAO, was also
present at the Independence Day celebration.
The event brought together people from
different sections of the Indian community in Dubai, reflecting the strong
bonds between India and the UAE and the continued contribution of the Indian
diaspora to the social, cultural and economic life of the country.
The 80th Independence Day celebrations
concluded on a patriotic note, with the Indian tricolour serving as a powerful
symbol of unity, pride and the enduring connection between Indians living
abroad and their motherland.
A Memorable Day for the Indian Community
Shabeeba Abdul Razak, a working
professional based in Dubai, speaking to Headlines Kannada, expressed her
happiness at being part of today’s Independence Day celebrations at the Indian
Consulate in Dubai.
Having lived in Dubai for more than four
years, she said she had never witnessed such a large gathering at an
Independence Day celebration before. She suggested that future celebrations
could be organised at a larger venue to accommodate the growing number of
participants.
Shabeeba also shared that she has been
associated with the Consulate as part of its contingency staff supporting
passport services, giving her an opportunity to contribute to the services
provided to the Indian community.
